About me

Saskia van Bergen My name is Saskia van Bergen. I am a specialist in late medieval book illumination and write about medieval art and culture. In 2007 I finished a Ph.D on Flemish illuminated manuscripts. I also work in a university library, where I manage projects concerning the special collections.

When in Spring 2012 Peter Kerssemakers closed the doors of Antiquarian Bookshop Hieronymus Bosch in Amsterdam, I decided to take over the collection and continue the store as a webshop.

I love to be surrounded by books and because Hieronymus Bosch is the only bookshop specializing in the Middle Ages and Renaissance on the European mainland, it meant a lot to me to keep it open. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

I am happy to advise you in purchasing and selling books in the following areas:

• Medieval Art and Culture
• Renaissance Art and Culture
• Book history

Because I am an internet seller I do not have shop facilities for visitors. Viewing and collection of items may be possible by prior arrangement. If you are interested in receiving my digital newsletter, please send an e-mail to info@hieronymusboschboeken.nl or follow me on

Facebook (Antiquarian Bookshop Hieronymus Bosch) and
hieronymusboschbooks Twitter.

You can call me at +31 (0)6 450 68965, but please note that I may not be able to answer the phone immediately. If you leave me a message with your name and phone number, I will return your call as soon as possible. If you prefer, you may also receive a semi-annual paper catalogue with the up-to-date collection. Please e-mail or call me and it will be sent to you in May and December.
